WHO WE ARE
AN EXPERIENCE IN EACH SMOKE
The company was born out of a long standing tradition of friends who gathered and shared the unique experience that is in each smoke. From there, the desire to create a premium cigar with the most harmonious flavors and smells that only the best Dominican leaves can achieve, a passion was born. This passion has been the drive behind the premium quality the brand represents today.

Our Cigars
Our cigar differs by using a tobacco of exceptional quality, with a pleasant taste and medium to strong intensity. It is the search for a consistent and balanced tobacco in flavors that can satisfy the need of a demanding smoker and court any novice.
La Fama
Every La Fama cigar is hand-rolled using the best Dominican leaves, carefully selected for their consistent and balanced flavor. Characterized by opening woody notes that bloom to chocolate and end with a peppery pop, a La Fama cigar is an indulgent, unique journey for both new and experienced cigar smokers.
George Sand
“A cigar is the perfect compliment to an elegant lifestyle.”
It is characterized by a soft run that allows you to enjoy the notes of tobacco due to it’s twist. This stick offers an complex trip from it’s first pull to it’s last, inch by inch showing it’s personality and embarking the smoker on a pleasure journey from start to finish.
Our History
In 1901, the Dominican tobacco industry faced challenges like lack of skilled labor and high agricultural costs. The industry was revolutionized by the Nadal company, established by Venezuelan immigrants in Santiago, introducing the "Cigarette Injector Machine." In 1907, Richard Sollner and Anselmo Copello founded La Habanera, the country's second cigarette and cigar factory, launching successful brands including La Fama by 1922.
During Trujillo's regime in the 1950s, he gained control of La Habanera, forcing Sollner and Copello to relinquish their shares. Trujillo's management diluted the company, and the brands were sold off cheaply.
Years later, Freddy Lopez, driven by personal nostalgia, acquired La Fama in 2019 and started production as a family reserve. Due to increasing demand, he began small-batch production, eventually expanding to limited local sales. By 2020, Freddy obtained a US tobacco import license, allowing La Fama to be sold in premium cigar lounges and shops, maintaining its mystique and quality reputation.
